This is a wiring panel from one of the unit record machines we had. I don't know
which one but think that it was a 407. One of the simplest "programs" created with
these panels was an "80-80 list", meaning that it read all 80 card columns and listed
them to the first 80 print positions. Every shop with unit record gear had a panel
permanently wired for 80-80 lists and for years, every S/360 installation I saw had
a card deck labeled "80/80" that did the same thing. I never learned how to wire
a panel and it always seemed a black art to me.
